Swim Camp

Westminster Academy’s Summer Swim Camp offers excellent instruction in a safe, fun, and competitive environment to swimmers of all ages and ability levels. Swim Camp starts July 24 and runs through July 28.

Fun Camp

WA’s fun camp is designed for children ages 5–15 and focuses on becoming a better swimmer through enjoying the water. Campers will participate in a variety of games and activities that will improve their stroke technique and ensure that they have a great time.

  • Open to ages 5 to 15
  • Half-Day Fun Camp: 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. $175
  • Full-Day Fun Camp: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. $225
  • Early Drop-Off: Available at 8:00 a.m. until camp begins for $15/day
  • Extended Pick-Up: Available after camp until 6:00 p.m. for $15/day

Competitive Camp

Competitive swimmers ages 5–15 will enjoy a fun-filled, exciting, weeklong experience designed to help them improve their times through technique sessions and innovative training both in the water and on land. Instruction will focus on stroke technique, starts, turns, finishes, dry-land exercises, and positive mental training. The goal is to give participants the skills they need to improve and enjoy racing.

  • Open to ages 5 to 15

  • Early Drop-Off: Available at 8:00 a.m. until camp begins for $15/day

Staff

Coach Sam Freas is the Aquatics Director at Westminster Academy. He has been a club coach for the past 12 years and the head coach of the WA’s varsity swimming and diving team. He is known for his fun and innovative workouts both in and out of the water. He has coached numerous high school and collegiate All-Americans and two Olympians. Sam is a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, was a captain in the U.S. Army, and holds a Master’s degree in Sports Science.

Eduardo Fugiwara has attained level 5 recognition with the American Swimming Coaches Association (less than 3% of U.S. coaches), Eduardo has coached Olympic trial, senior and junior national qualifiers. His swimmers have collected over 90 national rankings and more than 60 Florida Gold Coast records! They have represented various countries and includes champions and record holders at the Caribbean Island and the Caribbean and Central American Swimming Championships. He was on the coaching staff for Granada and Puerto Rico for several international events, including the FINA World Championships.

Dr. Sam Freas, Sr., Special Speaker and Guest Coach, is a former Olympic and NCAA Division I swim coach, Dr. Freas is currently the head swimming and diving coach at Oklahoma Baptist University where the men’s team won the NAIA National Championships in the university’s first swim season ever! As a coach of Olympic and national champions, Sam has coached and taught at several major universities and has been the recipient of “Coach of the Year” awards numerous times. He is currently a professor in the Kinesiology Department at OBU. An acclaimed motivational speaker, aquatic clinician, and author, Sam is known for his unique ability to appeal to and motivate swimmers of all ages.

NOTE: Camp counselors will be NCAA and Olympic-level collegiate swimmers.
