PRESCHOOL CAMP

Preschool Camp is open to children turning two before the first of September through those who will be entering PK4 in the fall following camp.

We are looking forward to a fun-filled time together at Westminster Academy’s Preschool Camp. Preschool Camp is open to children turning two before the first of September through those who will be entering PK4 in the fall following camp. Those entering PK3 and PK4 must be completely potty-trained. The Preschool Camp is located in the Westminster Academy preschool area at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church.

Preschool Camp activities include daily swim time, water play, a Bible-based curriculum, arts and crafts, storytime, hands-on projects, science exploration, sensory play, indoor and outdoor playtime, on-campus field trips, and more! After a morning full of fun activities, our youngest full-day campers settle down for a nap following lunch while listening to quiet music. Our older campers also have a quiet time following an afternoon recess.

WHERE DO I DROP OFF MY CHILD?

Preschool camp is located at 5555 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33308.

We use the same drop-off/pick-up procedures that we use at school for PK2 and PK3.

Camp begins at 8:00 a.m. Between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., your child will be greeted by a staff member at your vehicle and escorted to their classrooms.

Please note: Drop-off/pick-up uses the Federal Highway entrance facing Pollo Tropical. In order to ensure the safety of our children, there will be no signage indicating camp entrance locations.

HOW DO I PICK UP MY CHILD?

Afternoon pick-up is between 2:45 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. A counselor will bring your child out to your vehicle.

IS THERE AFTERCARE?

For preschool camp, aftercare is available from 3:00 p.m. through 5:30 p.m. for $20 per day. There is a $1.00 per minute fee after 5:30 p.m.

DO YOU REQUIRE A DEPOSIT?

Yes, a $100 deposit per camper is required to reserve your spot. This will be credited to your preschool camp payment. The balance is due May 15, or it will be charged to the card on file.

WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR TO CAMP?

Campers should wear a swimsuit with a t-shirt and swim shoes/flip-flops each day before swimming. (Girls should also wear shorts and a t-shirt over their suit.) Bring a towel and goggles. (Appropriate logos please) Pack a t-shirt and shorts with sneakers and socks for after swimming. Keep it simple. This is camp. They will get dirty. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt. Please put your child’s name on everything, especially towels, socks, and goggles. If marked items are lost we can identify them and return them to you.

DOES MY CHILD NEED SUNSCREEN?

Please put sunscreen on your child before he/she arrives at camp. If you would like sunscreen or bug spray applied at camp, please be sure to sign the waiver and send supplies in your child’s backpack.

WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD BRING TO CAMP?

A camper should pack a LIGHT bag each morning. Campers may bring extra snacks if needed. Campers need to wear a bathing suit and bring a bath-sized towel and water bottle every day! Water bottles will be refilled throughout the day. Swim goggles are recommended, and some children will want a sweatshirt if they get cold in the classrooms. Please send in a change of clothes. Campers that are full-time will need a resting mat (and an XL ziplock bag it will fit inside for storage) and linens for rest time. A stuffed animal is welcome if they need company.

2-year-old campers will need to provide diapers, wipes, ointment, and hand soap to be replenished as needed.

Money, toys, books, electronic devices, sporting equipment, and such are best left at home. We will provide all necessary equipment and supplies and shall not be held responsible for lost items.

WHAT WILL MY CHILD EAT AND DRINK AT CAMP?

A nutritious snack is provided daily and an afternoon snack is offered to those campers going to aftercare. Hot lunches are available to purchase for $6 daily.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY CHILD IS SICK?

Please keep your child at home for 24 hours after a fever goes down or if they complain of a stomach ache, earache, or a headache. From experience, we have found you will soon be back to pick them up. It is better to be overly cautious than to risk exposing the rest of the staff and the children to contagious sickness.

The school nurse is equipped to deal with minor cuts, scratches, abrasions, etc. EMS is located nearby and will be called immediately in the event of a more serious injury.

WILL THERE BE SWIMMING? AND IF SO, WHAT GROUP WILL MY CHILD BE IN?

All groups will be swimming five days a week. (Weather permitting) We offer a swim club after camp for an additional fee. To sign up for this you can call Coach Sam Freas at 954.401.4841, or email freass@wa.edu. Each child will be evaluated on his or her swimming abilities and certain limitations to the big pool will be assessed on an individual basis. Goggles will not be provided.
